Customs Brokerage Regulations 19 CFR 111 were modernized in December 2022. Changes include better defining the broker/client relationship and Customs Broker responsibilities, as well as requiring a Responsible Supervision Plan for new permit applicants.
This course will discuss what is meant by a “customs business”, and what is required of Customs Brokers in order to conduct business on behalf of their clients. You will learn what your obligation is as a Customs Broker to help the CBP combat terrorism and criminal activity. You will also learn about “responsible supervision”, and what it entails for brokers and the employees of Customs Broker businesses. Finally, we will discuss best practices for creating a Responsible Supervision Plan in accordance with 19 CFR 111.28. This is a requirement for new Customs Broker permit applications; however, the CBP strongly encourages all existing Customs Brokers to develop a Responsible Supervision Plan.
Once you finish this course, a printable Certificate of Completion will be available for download. The course can be completed 5.5 hours or less.
