Laws such as HIPAA and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act require that employees take specific precautions with certain types of personal information they handle. But even organizations that are not subject to these laws must be sure that their employees understand and follow internal policies for protecting proprietary and/or confidential data in all forms. This brief, 30-minute class explains the basic principles of information security in simple, understandable terms. It includes pop-quizzes, news clippings and a final quiz highlighting real-world compliance issues designed to help employees learn to recognize what data needs to be protected, and how to respond appropriately. It covers IDs and passwords, viruses, hoaxes, email and internet precautions, social engineering and more.

Once you finish this course, a printable Certificate of Completion will be available for download. The course can be completed in 0.5 hours or less and earns NCBFAA-registered students 0.5 CCS/CES continuing education credits.
