Carnet Bonds – ATA Carnets

Visit ATA Carnet Services for Pricing

ATA Carnets must be bonded. We make it easy to obtain and manage ATA Carnets, bond included!

A Carnet Bond is required in order to use an ATA Carnet. The Carnet Bond ensures that countries participating in the Carnet program are paid quickly, in agreement with the terms set by the USCIB, should a Carnet user incur duties or taxes. There are currently over 100 countries that participate in the Carnet program.

Get an ATA Carnet with our Carnet processing service or using our online portal.

A Carnet is a kind of “passport” for merchandise. It allows you to temporarily move goods in and out of a country, duty and tax-free. Examples include product samples and/or booth materials sent abroad to a trade show, or photography equipment sent out for an international photo shoot. As long as you bring the items back to the original country in the same condition within 12 months, you won’t incur any duties or taxes. But in the event that the goods are left in the receiving country for more than 12 months, they become subject to import duties/taxes in that country. These fees are paid by the bond, which in turn must be reimbursed by you, as the Carnet holder.

All Carnets purchased from DB Schenker Trade Solutions come with a Carnet Bond included. With 150+ years shipping and logistics experience, we not only can make sure you get the right Carnet — we can help you get the most out of it. If you have multiple Carnets, we even offer online software to help you manage them. When it comes to ATA Carnets, we make them easy.

Some items are NOT covered by Carnets, see the FAQ “What can go on an ATA Carnet?”.

An ATA Carnet does NOT take the place of other Government agency requirements, licenses and permits. US and foreign government regulations specific to each respective country must be followed for both the import and export.
